Dr. Steven Eckert
"Editor in chief of the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants (IJOMI), Director/Examiner for the American Board of Prosthodontics, winner of the Nobel Biocare Brånemark Osseointegration Award 2017, past president of the Academy of Prosthodontics, Academy of Osseointegration and American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics. Dr. Eckert attended the Ohio State University College of Dentistry and completed a General Practice Residency at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Chicago. This was followed by a private practice with teaching responsibilities at Loyola University School of Dentistry. In 1985 he elected to pursue graduate training at the Mayo Clinic in the Specialty of Prosthodontics. He completed this program along with a Master of Science degree and was invited to remain on staff at the Mayo Clinic where he served as Graduate Program Director for Prosthodontics. In 2010 retired from the Mayo Clinic only to begin a full time private practice devoted to implant dentistry at the ClearChoice Dental Implant Center of Minneapolis. He remains Full Professor Emeritus in Dentistry at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, Adjunct Professor at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry and Director of Research for ClearChoice.
His professional career has allowed him the opportunity to be involved in many organizations within dentistry. He has been president of the Academy of Osseointegration, American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics, Academy of Prosthodontics and the American Board of Prosthodontics. In 2017 he received the Brånemark Award from the Osseointegration Foundation and will receive the Dan Gordon Lifetime Achievement Award from the American College of Prosthodontists.
Dr. Eckert has written extensively about implant dentistry and other prosthodontic topics. He has been an editor for three scientific journals and is currently Editor-in-Chief for the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants, a position he has held for more than a decade."
